USA: Jill Biden’s Ex-Husband Charged with Wife’s Murder

William Stevenson, 77, former husband of Jill Biden, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife Linda, who was found unconscious at their Wilmington, Delaware home on December 28, 2025. Authorities responded to a domestic dispute call and performed CPR, but Linda Stevenson, 64, was later pronounced dead. After a weeks-long investigation, Stevenson was taken into custody on February 2, 2026, and charged with first-degree murder. Unable to post the $500,000 bail, he was transferred to Howard Young Correctional Institution. Linda, a mother, grandmother, and founder of BMB Bookkeeping, was described in her obituary as tenacious, kind, and deeply loyal. Stevenson was married to Jill Biden — then Jill Tracy Jacobs — from February 1970 to May 1975. He previously owned The Stone Balloon club in Newark, which hosted major rock acts including Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.
