USA: How Trump was trying to prove that the election was rigged

Emails released last month show Trump and his allies in the final weeks of his presidency pressuring the Justice Department to investigate baseless allegations of widespread electoral fraud in the 2020 election.

The ministry’s inspector general is examining whether officials tried to overturn the results.

“Just say there was election fraud and leave the rest to me and the Republican lawmakers,” Trump once said to then Justice Secretary Jeffrey Rosen, according to a note from Richard Donohue, a Justice Department official phone call.
