A chilling video has surfaced showing a bison attacking and launching an elderly man into the air at Yellowstone National Park in the United States. The incident occurred last Friday, July 10, 2026, when the man and his grandson were visiting the park and attempted to take photographs of a wild bison.
Attack Caught on Camera
The footage, now circulating widely online, shows the pair initially photographing the animal from a short distance. Upon noticing them, the bison rose from the ground and charged toward them. The grandson fled immediately, but the older man tried to take cover among nearby trees—unsuccessfully. The bison tracked him down and struck him forcefully with its head, sending him airborne.
Serious Injuries Reported
An eyewitness reported that the man was thrown approximately three meters (nearly 10 feet) into the air before landing hard on the ground, sustaining serious injuries to his limbs. He was rushed to a local medical facility for treatment.
Yellowstone National Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of America’s oldest and most iconic protected areas—is home to one of the largest free-roaming bison herds in the world. Officials regularly warn visitors to maintain a safe distance of at least 25 yards (23 meters) from bison and other wildlife.
