Two men were killed and a woman was injured by several knife attacks in, in her center. Authorities have arrested a suspect, whose motives are currently unclear, the city mayor announced. New York City mayor, Eric Adams told reporters that one suspect is being detained and police “not looking for anyone else” for attacks with two dead and one injured Monday night (18.11.2024) Greece time in Manhattan. According to one police officer, Joe Kenny, the suspect is a 51-year-old homeless man, known to the authorities because he had previously been arrested eight more times. “This is another clear example of the failure of justice and the mental health system in New York,” stressed the mayor, who is also persecuted by federal authorities for corruption. According to Adams, the perpetrator is facing serious psychological problems. The three attacks took place within two and a half hours on the 19th, 30th and 42nd Street of Manhattan – the latter is very close to the United Nations headquarters. The first victim, a 36-year-old builder, was stabbed in the abdomen while working on a construction site and doctors were unable to save him. The second attack occurred against a 68-year-old, who at the time was fishing on the East River. Shortly thereafter a 36-year-old woman was attacked, who was seriously injured. A taxi driver passing through the site saw the perpetrator and pointed him out to the authorities, according to the newspaper “New York Times”. In possession of the suspect two large knives were found with traces of blood, while his clothes were stained with blood, Kenny explained.
