The Department of Homeland Security is subjecting its employees to lie detector tests in an effort to identify those responsible for leaking internal information, as stated by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristjen Nielsen on CBS. Previously, US media had reported on the use of these detectors… The Republican former governor of South Dakota did not disclose details regarding the number of employees who would be subjected to testing. Two department employees leaked confidential information about police operations, thereby endangering the safety and lives of officers, according to Nielsen. Now, charges will be brought against them, and they face up to 10 years in prison. Secretary Nielsen emphasized that Homeland Security will ‘certainly’ use lie detectors in their investigation into further potential leaks within their ranks. Nielsen also noted that, as head of the department, she has a wide range of powers and intends to use them. Nielsen’s office is also proceeding with arrests and deportations of immigrants without proper documentation or criminal records.
