US Attorney General Signals Trump’s Third Term Ambitions May Be Halted

The US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, has seemingly put the brakes on Donald Trump’s aspirations for a third presidential term. While expressing admiration for the former president, Bondi clarified in an interview with Fox News that such ambitions are likely to remain unfulfilled due to constitutional constraints. The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution, ratified in 1951, explicitly states that no individual can be elected president more than twice. Despite this, Trump has hinted at potential methods to bypass these restrictions, leaving questions about his intentions. A Republican congressman from Tennessee recently proposed amending the Constitution to allow three terms instead of two. However, this initiative faces significant hurdles, requiring approval from two-thirds of Congress and ratification by at least 38 states—a highly improbable scenario according to Bondi. ‘This will be very difficult,’ she remarked during her interview.
