Urgent Investigation Ordered by UK Government on Heathrow Power Outage

The UK government has ordered an urgent investigation into the power outage at Heathrow Airport and surrounding areas. In a post on X, UK Energy Minister Ed Miliband announced the start of an inquiry into the fire at Heathrow that caused the power disruption. The government is ‘determined to fully understand what happened and what lessons can be learned.’ The investigation will be conducted by the National Electricity System Operator (NESO), the independent regulator of the UK’s energy system. Initial findings from the inquiry are expected within six weeks. Despite Heathrow resuming operations after the chaos caused by the fire, passengers and airlines continue to face delays and flight cancellations. The airport management has added extra flights to serve more passengers.
