Today, March 26, 2025, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to announce the new minimum wage following a cabinet meeting and presentation by Labor Minister Niki Kerameou. The new minimum wage will take effect on April 1, 2025, impacting private sector workers currently earning €830 gross. This year marks the first implementation of the new law (Kerameou, 2024), which aligns private sector wages with public sector entry-level pay. Any positive difference will also be granted to all public employees. According to recent reports, the new minimum wage is expected to rise to around €900, representing a 6%-7% increase. If the minimum wage reaches €880, private workers would see a €50 gross increase, while public employees would receive a €30 gross boost. This is the second time since January 1, 2024, that all public employees have received a horizontal pay raise. Additionally, the upcoming Easter bonus, calculated based on April salaries, will reflect this increase. Other benefits such as triennial raises, unemployment allowances, and wages for those in employment support programs will also adjust accordingly.
