Surveillance footage released by authorities in Wisconsin shows a suspect’s vehicle soaring over another car during a high-speed pursuit as the driver attempted to flee. The suspect—identified as 44-year-old Dewayne Stokes of Milwaukee—was ultimately arrested after a brief foot chase, according to U.S. law enforcement officials.
Chase Across Multiple Roads
The Wisconsin State Patrol stopped a vehicle on Interstate 41 north early Saturday morning (May 9, 2026). A trooper requested backup after learning an active felony warrant for the vehicle was outstanding in Kenosha County.
The pursuit continued through a parking lot and onto Pioneer Street, then Johnson Street, before circling back onto I-41 north. As the suspect’s car approached the Winnebago Road exit ramp, it veered into a ditch, climbed an embankment, and launched over traffic on Winnebago Road—landing in a field across the street.
Arrest After Foot Chase
Stokes exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was quickly subdued with a Taser and taken into custody. The entire chase spanned approximately 4.5 miles. He was the sole occupant of the car.
After the incident, Stokes was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained during the pursuit in Fond du Lac County. He is now in custody facing charges related to the chase, including felony evasion and warrant violations.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office released the video footage, which has since drawn widespread attention for its dramatic and unexpected turn.
