Understanding Mitsotakis – Christodoulides before the meeting of the President of Cyprus with Joe Biden

The Prime Minister had telephone communication with the President of the Republic of Cyprus a few hours before the second meeting with US President Joe Biden. Nikos Christodoulidis will meet at the White House with Joe Biden tomorrow Wednesday (30/10/24) and his next station will be Athens where Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Christodoulides agreed to meet on Thursday (31/10/24). As Cypriot government representative Constantine Letymbiotis stressed in his post, “Cypriot-Greece coordination remains constant and close”. The agenda of the Christodoulides – Biden meeting according to Cypriot media includes ways of strengthening bilateral relations, while the Strategic Dialogue of the two countries is running, the Cyprus issue, developments in the Middle East and the role of Cyprus in providing humanitarian aid and facilities for evacuations of civilians from the war areas. The stigma of Nicosia’s approach was given by the President of the Republic himself, pointing out that the invitation comes “following some other important developments that demonstrate the strengthening of our country’s regional, international footprint, which we are working on methodically and specifically.” He sent at the same time the message that the initiatives taken in recent years by the Republic of Cyprus are recognised and welcomed by the international community.
