Discussions between Ukraine and the U.S. commenced today (March 23, 2025) in Riyadh, announced Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, ahead of a separate American-Russian meeting also taking place in Saudi Arabia. “We began our meeting with the American team in Riyadh,” wrote Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Facebook. He leads the delegation that traveled from Kyiv for these highly anticipated talks. “The agenda includes proposals for protecting energy and critical infrastructure,” he clarified. “We are implementing the directive of the President of Ukraine to bring about a fair peace and strengthen security,” stated the head of the Ukrainian delegation in his post.
