The world is stunned by the latest images of a devastating Russian drone attack targeting a military recruitment center in central Ukraine. At least two people were killed and over ten injured when Russian drones struck the facility in Poltava, located in east-central Ukraine. The Ukrainian army confirmed that the recruitment office was hit, with fires breaking out at the site and affecting nearby civilian infrastructure.
In a Telegram post, regional governor Volodymyr Kozyut stated, ‘On July 3, 2025, the enemy attacked the city of Poltava. A fire broke out at the location, and both military and civilian infrastructure suffered damage.’ According to his report, two individuals lost their lives while 11 others sustained injuries.
This attack follows an earlier Russian strike on Odesa in southern Ukraine, where six civilians were wounded, as reported by local emergency services.
Footage capturing the moment of impact in Poltava has circulated online, adding to the growing concern over Russia’s continued use of Shahed drones against critical Ukrainian facilities.
The Ukrainian military also acknowledged casualties, stating that both soldiers and civilians were affected, though no exact numbers were provided. Fires erupted in the recruitment center and adjacent buildings.
These attacks come amid reports that the United States has paused certain arms deliveries to Ukraine, including Patriot air defense systems—crucial for Kyiv’s efforts to counter Moscow’s relentless missile and drone strikes. This decision was covered by major U.S. media outlets and confirmed in a recent article published by the Financial Times on July 3, 2025.
