Five people tragically lost their lives following an attack near the city of Pokrovsk, a key target of Russian assaults for months in eastern Ukraine, stated the regional governor. In addition to the five fatalities, at least 12 others were wounded by a series of Russian strikes across several towns in Ukraine’s Donetsk region on Thursday (03.07.2025), according to Ukrainian authorities. Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, reported via a Telegram post that the attacks resulted in deaths, injuries, and damage to residential buildings and infrastructure in multiple towns. He noted that drones and artillery were used during the assaults, accusing Russian forces of continuing to target populated areas. Filashkin specifically mentioned that two individuals were killed in Pokrovsk, a crucial logistics hub, where local authorities are urging residents to evacuate their homes quickly. Two other deaths occurred in Bilitske, northwest of Pokrovsk, while another casualty was reported in Ilinivka, between Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk—a frequent focal point of Russia’s slow western advance through the Donetsk region. Russia has not immediately commented on the incident. Ukrainian authorities also stated that several civilians were evacuated from the affected zones.
