New victims, including children, are the result of the new Russian strike in the early morning of Wednesday (04.09.2024). Russian attack, which took place early this morning in the city Lviv in western Ukraine, cost the life to seven people, including three children, Mayor Andrii Santovi reported via Telegram. Following this murderous attack, Ukrainian President Volontir Zelenski called on his allies to assist in anti-aircraft defence and asked for long-range blows to be allowed within Russia. “Anyone who convinces partners to give Ukraine more long-range capabilities to respond as they should to terror, is working to prevent precisely this kind of Russian terrorist blow in Ukrainian cities,” Zelenski said. Beyond the dead over 30 people were injured by the rocket attack and drones caused, while historic buildings in the heart of Lviv were destroyed, regional officials announced today. The blows were carried out one day after the most deadly individual attack this year, when Russia struck with two ballistic military institute missiles in the city of Poltava, central Ukraine, killing 50 people and injuring hundreds of others. Among those killed in Lviv by the drone attack and rocket was a 14-year-old girl, according to the first figures, while five children are among the wounded, Regional Governor Maksim Kozitskyi reported via Telegram. Andrii Santovi, the mayor of Lviv, who is the administrative center of the Greater Lviv district, said that among the dead is an midwife and a man, while 35 people receive medical help. In a video posted on Telegram, in which the mayor is depicted among the wreckage of a damaged building, he said that more than 50 buildings, from schools to residences and clinics, were damaged most in the heart of the city. An eyewitness in the city also told Reuters there was damage to buildings. In neighbouring Poland warplanes took off for the third time in eight days to ensure the safety of its national airspace, the operational command of the armed forces announced. “It was another night with much work for the entire anti-aircraft defence system in Poland because … of the injuries carried out by the Russian Federation’s large-scale aviation,” said the administration through X. Russia has also today hit Kiev and other missile regions, but so far no damage has been reported. Russia has been pounding Ukraine over the last few days with hundreds of missiles and drones and some Russian military bloggers say it is Moscow’s response to Kiev’s recent raid on Russian territory. Russia has not yet commented on the attacks on Poltava and today’s hits on Lviv and Kiev. Photos: Reuters
