A talented 17-year-old from the UK, who ranked fifth globally as a gamer, tragically took his life after believing he had failed his GCSE math exams. Alex Henshaw’s family received an email just one day after his death informing them that upon reevaluation, he had actually passed the exam. Described by his mother, Lisa Hamilton, as being deeply upset over failing his GCSE math test, Alex struggled with autism and ADHD but excelled in online gaming tournaments. Despite these challenges, he attended Basingstoke College of Technology, pursuing a BTEC program in game design. Teachers noted his exceptional performance, even questioning if his work was original due to its high quality. The tragedy came to light when his mother called firefighters last September after being unable to unlock her son’s door. Firefighters broke down the door with a crowbar, only to find Alex’s body inside. The coroner’s court concluded it was a case of suicide.
