Two Minors Missing from Nea Ionia and Ioannina

An alert has been issued by ‘The Smile of the Child’ following the disappearance of a 12-year-old boy from Nea Ionia and a 14-year-old boy from Ioannina. According to the organization, on January 30, 2026, at 6:00 PM, 14-year-old Abdifitah Abdulaahi—a Somali national—went missing from an unaccompanied minors’ shelter in Ioannina. On the same day, 12-year-old Hussein Alseh disappeared from Nea Ionia. ‘The Smile of the Child’ was notified and, under prosecutorial order—and due to potential life-threatening circumstances—publicly released the minors’ details.
