Two individuals have been placed in pre-trial detention among the seven defendants tried today (2/6/25) in connection with the scandal of a network of fake prescriptions that allegedly operated since at least 2017, causing over €1.2 million in damages to the EOPYY organization. One detained individual is a pharmacist accused of playing a leading role in the scheme, while the other is a doctor who reportedly exposed the network’s activities against EOPYY. The remaining five defendants were released on restrictive terms, including mandatory appearances at their local police station and some under financial bail conditions. During their defense, the accused denied all charges, pointing out gaps in the indictment, claiming the prescriptions were entirely legal, and stating that patients had testified in their favor.
