A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday morning (04.07.2025) in Voula, where two buses operated by OASA collided under unclear circumstances. The incident took place on the coastal road heading towards Sounio, near the Asklipeio hospital in Voula.
Initial reports indicate that 32 passengers were injured, including several children. Out of those injured, three are reported to be in serious condition. Many of the passengers were children traveling to enjoy a swim at the beach.
According to newsit.gr, the collision happened when one bus rear-ended another that was stationary. Authorities are investigating whether the driver may have lost consciousness before the crash.
Adult victims were transported to Asklipeio Hospital in Voula, while children were taken to ‘Pediatriko’ Hospital. Preliminary assessments suggest that none of the minors sustained life-threatening injuries.
Emergency response teams arrived swiftly at the scene, with eight ambulances from EKAB, three mobile medical units, and two rapid response motorcycles dispatched within five minutes. Despite the quick mobilization, the current health status of the injured remains unknown.
Eyewitness accounts describe the moment of impact. One bus driver told SKAI’s ‘Live You’ show: ‘I was starting from the stop when I was hit by the other bus. I heard the bang.’
Police also arrived at the location to document the incident and launch an investigation into the exact cause of the collision. Heavy traffic delays are currently reported on Konstantinos Karamanlis Avenue, near First Beach in Voula.
