Twenty-five unaccompanied minors refugees detained in police facilities in Αμυγδαλέζα in Petrou Ralli

Twenty-five unaccompanied minors refugees detained in police facilities in the Αμυγδαλέζα and in Petrou Ralli, due to a lack of positions for their hospitality…
Five of them will return today to the PIKPA Leros, and has ensured, in collaboration with the National Centre for Social Solidarity and the NGO “Μετάδραση”, the direct transfer of other ten minors in the hosting structures that meet the appropriate conditions.
The above were announced after a visit of the Secretary-General’s Reception, Odysseas Voudouris, to Αμυγδαλέζα and Petrou Ralli. “The detention regime of underage unaccompanied remains a black stain on the public system, because children in which we ought to have a increased care, end up in much worse conditions than peers who get the presence of their parents,” said Odysseas Voudouris after the visit.
The General Secretariat Host, in cooperation with the united nations High Commissioner for refugees and NGOS, is planning the creation of protected zones for unaccompanied minors within the structures of hospitality. The completion of these sites is provided as 20 August.
