At the same time Turkey continues the military campaign against the Kurds in Syria, killing 23 of their militants. CORVERSE Specifically the Turkish defence ministry said the 23 militants killed by Turkish armed forces in northern Syria were members of the YPG and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) law. Turkey considers that PKK and YPG are identical organisations, while the United States considers them separate and have banned the PKK as a terrorist organisation, but recruited YPG as their main ally in Syria, in the campaign against the Islamic State. “We hope that Mr Trump will make a decision that will put an end to this continuing error in the area,” said Fidan during an interview Press in Doha along with his Qatar counterpart. He said that YPG is unable to fight the Islamic State organization and plays only one role, as it keeps the prisoners of the jihadist organization in prison, while adding that Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Jordan had preliminary talks on the fight against the Islamic State.
