Trump’s Storm Hits Education: Federal Funding Frozen for Princeton University

in

The aggressive policies of Donald Trump have caused tremors in the field of education, with his administration targeting major American universities in its fight against ‘anti-Semitism’. Following funding cuts at Columbia and threats of sanctions against Harvard, the Trump administration has now frozen millions of dollars in federal grants to Princeton University. Princeton’s president, Chris Eisgruber, stated that government agencies, including NASA and the Departments of Defense and Energy, informed the university about this decision. Princeton did not disclose the reasons or the exact amount of the frozen funds. The Trump administration has threatened to cut federal funding to universities it accuses of tolerating anti-Semitism and failing to protect Jewish students during pro-Palestinian protests. In a statement, Eisgruber emphasized Princeton’s commitment to combating anti-Semitism and discrimination while defending academic freedom. The Department of Education has sent letters to 60 universities, including Harvard, warning of potential legal action if they fail to protect Jewish students. Last month, the administration cut $400 million in federal funding from Columbia University for similar reasons. Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have arrested foreign students participating in protests, initiating deportation proceedings. Earlier this year, the Trump administration also halted $175 million in funding to the University of Pennsylvania due to its policies on transgender athletes.
