With the European Union having made drastic decisions on emissions of pollutants and European car manufacturers, but also Asian and Japanese having set short-term and long-term targets for coalification, the new US president Donald Trump said “my baby oil, oil”, giving a direct stigma for mining that means thermal vehicles with internal combustion engines that pollute. At the same time, Donald Trump said that subsidies to electric vehicles, favouring their purchase, are unfair against conventional ones, wanting to abolish them. However, the paradox is that Elon Musk, a close associate, has Tesla who sells purely electric vehicles and even technologically advanced, having invested billions for factories in Europe. How to balance this situation, we’ll see it along the way. CORVERSE However, in Europe a number of countries have stopped subsidies on electricity (not Greece), mainly because of economic policy but also because of an opinion, that the citizen must be harmonised with the new conditions regarding electricity and not be granted a premium. Trump decisions and the protectionism it seeks for American companies, if it applies, will create problems for companies exporting vehicles to the US, but will also bring chain situations to Europe and other countries, whose car companies have invested billions of money for batteries, finding lithium and other renewable energy sources. The European Commission launches a Strategic Dialogue with the European car industry, social partners and other key stakeholders on 30 January. This initiative highlights the Commission’s commitment to ensure the future of an area of vital importance for European prosperity, while promoting its climate objectives and its wider social objectives. CORVERSE The Commission recognises the urgent need for action in order to protect the European car industry and ensure its future within the European Union. Under the leadership of President von der Leien , the Strategic Dialogue aims to cooperate with actors in the industry, social partners and stakeholders so that together they can understand challenges, develop solutions and take concrete action. In the context of the Commission, Commissioner Gigicostas has been tasked with drawing up an action plan for the sector, which will benefit from these discussions. This is what small Europe does, which alone cannot save the planet, when it has energy-consuming countries like the vast USA and China. Will European vehicle manufacturers and other countries be able to promote cost-effective electric motors and hydrogen when the US makes cheap oil? Will Trump be able to be permanently plugged in or cut off their power? These are questions that will be asked, with the future of the global car industry being uncertain, with different trends and policies. Once China was very active with old engines, it remains but invests in new technology motors and of course electric motors. In America selling cheap vehicles, gasoline with gallon (3,785 liters) and motors are ferocious, maybe they don’t care much. But in Europe there is already an economic downturn, with the sales of vehicles almost stagnant, and there is a similar trend in China. Time will show what will happen, however this time is precious and is not to be wasted, with climate change appearing magnificently at every point on the planet.
Trump will oil America and Europe the electricity
