Trump: Retaliatory Tariffs to Target All Countries Unconditionally

in

All countries – particularly 10 to 15 states – will be affected by retaliatory tariffs, according to a statement made yesterday (March 30, 2025) by the President of the USA. Trump has promised to present the tariff plan on April 2, 2025, which he dubbed ‘Liberation Day.’ He has already proceeded with the imposition of additional customs tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automobiles, as well as all products imported into the USA from China. The retaliatory tariffs will impact ‘all countries,’ he emphasized while speaking to journalists aboard the presidential aircraft. Mr. Trump stated that ‘retaliatory’ tariffs will target countries imposing higher tariffs or taxes on American imports. He explained that the level of tariffs would match the extra costs those countries impose on American goods. In February, the Republican instructed members of his administration responsible for trade to prepare specialized measures per country. Last week, however, the U.S. president hinted that perhaps lower-level tariffs might be imposed on some states.
