U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized the need for inspections of Iran’s weapons systems in a new post on Truth Social today (June 22, 2026). He linked such inspections to ensuring Iran’s long-term “nuclear candor.”

In his message, Trump stated: “Everyone knows very well that Iran will agree to undergo inspections of its major weapons systems to ensure ‘nuclear candor’ for many years to come.”

Diplomatic Momentum Builds Ahead of Final Deal

Trump’s remarks come amid intensified diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear program. Earlier, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance described the most recent round of talks—held in Burgdorf, Switzerland—as positive, noting “substantial progress” and expressing optimism that both sides are closer than ever to reaching a final agreement.

Separately, Vance confirmed that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors are expected to return to Iran. Their mission will be to verify implementation of the preliminary agreement and monitor Tehran’s nuclear-related commitments.
