Donald Trump described Iran as having “lost everything” across all fronts and dismissed the idea of a ground invasion at this time, calling such a move “a waste of time.” As the conflict enters its seventh day, Trump addressed the escalating U.S.–Iran confrontation in an interview with NBC News.

He dismissed recent remarks by Iran’s foreign minister—suggesting Tehran is prepared for a potential ground incursion—as “pointless commentary,” signaling that Washington is not currently considering such an operation.

“It’s a waste of time. They’ve lost everything. They’ve lost their navy. They’ve lost everything they could possibly lose,” Trump said.

He added that the U.S. military has ample firepower to sustain ongoing operations, stating: “We have enormous munitions—more than people realized. We have more than we’ve ever had before. And we have plenty stored in other countries.”

Trump reiterated his desire to shape Iran’s post-conflict future, saying, “We want to go in and clean house. We don’t want someone who’ll take 10 years to rebuild Iran. We want them to have a good leader. We have some people—I believe—who would do a good job.” He did not name any specific individuals but noted efforts are underway to ensure those potential leaders remain safe during the fighting, adding, “We’re watching them, yes.”
