Amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, former U.S. President Donald Trump took time during a meeting with Republican lawmakers to publicly praise his wife, Melania Trump, calling her new documentary “hot” and declaring that the First Lady has now become “a movie star.”

“Can you believe it? This film was hot—and it’s still hot. She’s a movie star,” Trump said of the documentary. “It was a good movie.”

The film, titled Melania, premiered in January at the Trump-Kennedy Center and focuses on the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. Directed by Brett Ratner, the documentary debuted with $7 million in box office earnings—surpassing recent releases like the 2024 documentary Am I Racist?, which earned $5.4 million, according to Deadline.

Produced by Amazon MGM Studios—which paid $40 million for the project—and Muse Films, a production company founded by Melania Trump late last year, the documentary launched globally on Amazon Prime on Monday, March 9, 2026.

At the premiere, Melania Trump told reporters what audiences could expect: “You’ll see humor, you’ll see sorrow, you’ll see fashion.”
