In a recent attack, former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating he is “not important enough to be at the negotiation table with Russia for ending the war in Ukraine.” Trump seems to distance himself further from ally Ukraine after calling Zelenskyy an “unelected dictator” and warning that if quick action isn’t taken, there might be no country left. In an interview with Fox News, Trump described Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s visit to Kyiv as a waste of time, saying, “I really wish she hadn’t gone.” Discussing Russia and President Putin, Trump remarked, “Putin wants to make a deal. And he doesn’t need to make one because if he wanted, he could take the whole country.” While acknowledging Russia attacked Ukraine, Trump argued the war was unnecessary and criticized both Biden and Zelenskyy for their handling of the conflict. According to Trump, proper diplomacy could have prevented the war, saving lives and cities from destruction.
