Trump Criticizes Zelenskyy: Blames Him for Unwinnable War

US President Donald Trump once again expressed frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, responding to a journalist’s question about Zelenskyy’s desire to acquire more missiles. ‘He keeps trying to buy missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you need to know if you can win it. You don’t start a war against someone who is 20 times bigger than you and then expect the world to give you missiles,’ Trump said while welcoming the president of El Salvador at the Oval Office. This is not the first time Trump has blamed Zelenskyy for the war with Russia, despite Russia invading Ukraine in February 2022. However, the Republican leader also addressed the responsibilities of Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Joe Biden. ‘We have thousands of deaths because of three people. First, because of Putin. But also because of Biden, who had no idea what he was doing, and secondly, Zelenskyy,’ he stated, reiterating that this war should never have happened. ‘The only thing I can do is try to stop it. I want to end the killings, and I think we are making progress in that regard,’ he assured, emphasizing that he expects ‘good proposals, very soon.’ Trump described yesterday’s bombing in Sumy, which killed at least 35 people and injured 117, as ‘terrible,’ without directly attributing blame to Russia.
