Donald Trump declared on Tuesday (24.06.2025) via social media that a full and total ceasefire had been agreed upon between Israel and Iran, set to begin at approximately 7 a.m. Greek time, bringing an ‘official end’ to the 12-day conflict. The same was reiterated by the U.S. President in a later statement on NBC. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, accepted the ceasefire with Israel after 4 p.m., thanking the armed forces of his country and stating that military operations continued until the last moment, hinting at the cessation of hostilities. According to higher-ranking White House officials, Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Middle East envoy Steve Wittkof were involved in direct contact with Iranian officials, while Trump personally mediated during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump expressed optimism about a permanent de-escalation in the Middle East, referring to the conflict as the ’12-Day War,’ emphasizing it could have lasted years and destroyed the entire region but did not. Reuters confirmed that a senior Iranian official verified the ceasefire agreement, facilitated by Qatar.
