In an effort to counter accusations from the opposition, Christos Triantopoulos, who has been referred to the Preliminary Investigation Committee, has publicly released an email related to the Tempi flood. In a lengthy Facebook post, Triantopoulos aims to prevent what he calls another massive falsehood from the opposition. He asserts that the truth cannot be distorted by petty party politics and promises full disclosure during the Preliminary Examination Committee. The email in question refers to funding for supporting relatives and restoring disaster areas, tasks carried out by contractors on behalf of the Region of Thessaly. According to Triantopoulos, this was discussed at a well-known meeting on March 6, 2023, in Larissa. He emphasizes that neither the title nor the content of the email contains any directive or coordinating role on his part. Furthermore, he criticizes opposition parties for exploiting the government’s obligation to fund local administration duties, whether regular or emergency. Triantopoulos claims similar communications occur daily and are routine in nature.
