Train Service Suspended on Sindos–Thessaloniki Line Due to Fire

Train circulation on the Sindos–Thessaloniki railway section was suspended on Sunday afternoon (01/02/2026) until further notice due to a fire at a power supply substation near Thessaloniki Railway Station, as announced by Hellenic Train. The suspension—ordered by infrastructure manager OSE–Hellenic Railways—affected multiple services: trains 1598 (Larissa–Thessaloniki, 94 passengers) and 1734 (Edessa–Thessaloniki, 71 passengers) remain stranded at Sindos Station; IC 57 (Thessaloniki–Athens, 265 passengers), scheduled to depart before 17:00, is held at Thessaloniki Station. Significant delays are expected across the Thessaloniki–Larissa–Thessaloniki line. Hellenic Train staff are providing continuous updates and assistance to affected passengers and are coordinating with OSE and relevant authorities to restore service.
