Tragic Workplace Accident in Chania: One Dead, One Seriously Injured

A tragic incident occurred when a 40-year-old man lost his life after falling from scaffolding along with a colleague who sustained severe injuries. The fatal accident happened on June 21, 2025, around noon near Rodopou, close to Kolymbari in the Platanias Municipality of Chania. A 35-year-old man tragically passed away at a construction site, while a 25-year-old was seriously injured and rushed to the Kisamos Health Center. According to reports, the accident occurred when the two Syrian workers were on the scaffolding of a two-story building that collapsed, causing them to fall from a height of 6-7 meters. The Hellenic Police have launched an investigation into the conditions surrounding the accident, supported by the emergency medical services of EKAB. The incident is being reviewed by the Labor Center of Chania for further analysis of the circumstances.
