Another tragedy has unfolded on the streets of Athens following a fatal motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman and left her male companion in critical condition. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM on Ethniki Antistaseos Street in Kaisariani, when the motorbike they were riding collided with another motorcycle and then struck the rear of a parked truck.

An eyewitness described the harrowing scene to Live News, stating: ‘Neither of them was speaking. The boy was breathing, but it was very serious for both kids. The ambulance arrived after about 15–20 minutes.’

The driver, a 29-year-old man, and the 25-year-old passenger were ejected from their bike and landed beneath the vehicle. Photos from the scene show the moment they hit the truck. One witness recalled: ‘I saw only a shoe in the middle of the road at first. I thought the person who crashed had gotten up, but then they lifted the bike and there was blood in the corner — that’s when I realized someone was seriously hurt.’

Emergency services soon arrived, with fire crews followed by ambulances. The young woman was found covered in blood and later declared dead at the scene. The young man was rushed to the KAT Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.

A second motorcyclist involved in the crash recounted his terrifying experience: ‘I heard a loud noise behind me, looked in my mirror, and saw a bike flying in the air. I tried to move right, but the next thing I knew, I was being dragged on the ground. I was so scared, it was my first accident. I didn’t even approach to see the others’ condition. All I did was get up and shout for help.’

Authorities have collected witness statements and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to determine the cause of the crash. Meanwhile, family members of the victims remain devastated — the young woman’s loved ones mourn her sudden loss, while the parents of the injured man pray for his survival. Doctors say the next 24 hours will be crucial in determining his fate.
