Tragic Crash in Peristeri: Taxi and Car Collision Captured on Shocking Dashcam Footage

A 47-year-old taxi driver lost his life, a 22-year-old car driver was severely injured, and two 24-year-olds, a man and a woman who were passengers in the same vehicle, suffered less severe injuries in an accident that occurred on Sunday, March 16, 2025. The incident took place at the intersection of Leoforos Thebon and Panagi Tsaldari streets in Peristeri. A video released by newsit.gr captures the moment of the collision as the taxi violently crashes into the car. The taxi was moving along Panagi Tsaldari towards Agios Antonios while the car driven by the 22-year-old was traveling on Leoforos Thebon. In the footage, cars are seen stopping at a traffic light. When the light turns green, the vehicles start moving, followed shortly by the taxi. The video then shows the intense collision between the two vehicles, both being propelled into oncoming traffic on Thebon. Reports suggest that the 22-year-old driver may have run a red light. The 47-year-old taxi driver tragically lost his life, while the 22-year-old driver is being treated at Janio Hospital. The two 24-year-old passengers are receiving care at Gennimatas Hospital. The Traffic Accident Investigation Department is currently examining the causes of the tragedy.
