A 38-year-old Ukrainian truck driver, known for live-streaming his journeys on social media while driving, caused a fatal accident near Kozani on the Egnatia Odos highway. The driver is scheduled to appear before a judge on Good Friday (April 18, 2025), charged with dangerous driving leading to criminal negligence. Police are investigating whether the driver’s attention was diverted by his phone use, as evidence suggests he frequently engaged in live broadcasts during trips. According to reports, the driver’s hands were often off the wheel, holding his phone or even smoking, while making risky stunts for his followers. Despite warnings and adverse weather conditions, he continued live-streaming, even passing through intersections without slowing down. This resulted in a tragic crash early on Tuesday afternoon (April 15, 2025), leaving two dead and five injured. His destination this time was the port of Igoumenitsa, carrying compost in glass jars along a familiar route.
