TRAGEDY in Moria in Lesvos! Explosion in gas cylinder in a hot spot for refugees

Panic broke out in the middle of the night in the refugee center in the Molecules of the island. It all started from the explosion in a gas bottle in one of the tents of the refugees…
According to what came to be known as now a 60-year-old woman from Afghanistan was trying to cook when the bottle is on fire. The fire quickly spread throughout the tent, with the result to be locked and found tragic death, so the 60-year-old woman and five-year-old grandson.
The flames however quickly transmitted and in adjacent tents. Panic set in. The flames extended quickly with the result of a mother with her child to suffer very serious burns.
Immediately broke out, and episodes. The firemen who rushed to the spot were attacked by some of the refugees, and it required the intervention of the police to calm the spirits.
Directly it was found that the woman from Afghanistan and a small child to be transported to Athens with a C-130 as it was in a critical condition.
With ambulances, were transported to the hospital at least 10 people with burns, and respiratory problems because of the fumes.
It is striking, however, is the fact that while there was an ongoing attempt to extinguish the fire, some immigrants set fire to a container of the centre with the result that intensified the feeling of panic.
In fact, he had to be evacuated and the children’s center immigrants working in the hot spot of the Municipality.
Finally, at about 3 in the morning the fires are out, but also a large number of people will spend the night in the open after their tents with all their belongings were burned.
