Tragedy in Lefkada: 24-Year-Old Hospitalized with Extensive Brain Hemorrhage After Receiving Marriage Proposal

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening (05/07/2025) in Lefkada, where a 24-year-old woman collapsed at the exact moment her 26-year-old partner proposed to her. The young woman is currently hospitalized with extensive brain hemorrhaging and her condition remains critical. Notably, she collapsed inside a church in Lefkada—specifically at the Church of Prophet Elias in Egklouvi—where the couple had gone so that her boyfriend could surprise her with a marriage proposal. As he got down on one knee and presented the ring, the woman initially appeared overjoyed, but within seconds, she collapsed unconscious to the floor. The shocked young man desperately sought help, eventually mobilizing both fire services and EKAB emergency responders, who rushed her to Lefkada General Hospital. Following medical examinations, doctors diagnosed her with extensive brain hemorrhage. She was immediately intubated and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the Hatzikosta Hospital in Ioannina, where she remains in very critical condition.
