Traffic Jams on Corinth–Athens and Lamia–Athens Highways This Weekend

Weekend travelers faced significant delays on two major national highways — the Corinth–Athens and Lamia–Athens routes — particularly late Sunday afternoon (July 12, 2026). Heavy return traffic from weekend getaways led to severe congestion.

Corinth–Athens Highway

Speeds dropped sharply along the Corinth–Athens motorway between Agioi Theodoroi and Nea Peramos. The bottleneck is attributed to a large volume of returning holidaymakers and day-trippers.

Lamia–Athens Highway

Intermittent traffic jams were reported on the Lamia–Athens highway starting from the Afidnes toll station heading toward Athens.

Attiki Odos

Drivers traveling eastbound on Attiki Odos — the Athens metropolitan motorway — toward Eleusis also encountered difficulties. Delays exceeding 30 minutes were recorded between the Koropi toll station and the Marathon interchange.

Additional slowdowns were observed at the Eleusis toll plaza. Real-time traffic updates are available via the official Attiki Odos Traffic account and live road cameras.
