Drivers across Attica are facing significant delays this Tuesday afternoon (10 March 2026), with traffic congestion reaching critical levels on several major arteries in the Athens basin. Heavy traffic is reported across the capital, with the most severe bottlenecks once again concentrated on Kifissou Avenue.
Kifissou Avenue: Worst-Affected Stretch
According to the latest updates, intense traffic jams are occurring intermittently in both directions along Kifissou Avenue. The slowest speeds are being recorded near Aigaleo and Peristeri.
Other High-Traffic Areas
Increased congestion is also reported on Kifisias Avenue—particularly through Marousi and Chalandri—as well as on Mesogeion Avenue heading toward central Athens. Significant delays are also affecting roads around downtown Athens, including Syngrou Avenue near Neos Kosmos, and key interchanges connecting to national highways.
Attiki Odos and Peripheral Routes
A major bottleneck is developing on the Attiki Odos motorway, specifically in the airport-bound direction between Metamorfosi and Marousi. Drivers exiting toward Piraeus on the Elefsina-bound carriageway are experiencing delays of 5–10 minutes. Similar delays—also ranging from 5 to 10 minutes—are reported at the exit for Leoforos Kareas–Alimos on the Ymittos Peripheral Road.
Motorists are urged to exercise extra caution and patience. Where possible, authorities recommend using alternative routes to avoid further inconvenience.
