Traffic Congestion in Athens: Major Delays Reported on Kifisos, Attiki Odos

in

Families and groups of friends are leaving Athens in large numbers during the major exodus ahead of the upcoming holidays. By mid-afternoon on Wednesday (April 16, 2025), traffic congestion has reached peak levels. Kifisos once again leads as the busiest road with bottlenecks reported both uphill and downhill from Moschatos to Metamorfosi. Increased traffic is also observed on exits of Attiki Odos towards Eleusis, around Piraeus harbor, and on Leoforos Athinon. Drivers heading towards Eleusis on Attiki Odos are experiencing delays exceeding 30 minutes between Anthousa and Metamorfosi junctions. Delays of 10-15 minutes are reported on exits for Lamia (towards the airport and Eleusis). The mass exodus is expected to continue over the next few days, with authorities implementing enhanced security measures to ensure smooth operations at the ports.
