Traffic Chaos in Athens: Massive Delays on Kifisos and Kifisias Roads

in

Athens is experiencing significant traffic congestion early Wednesday morning (25.06.2025). The most severe issues are reported on Kifisos, Kifisias, and Attiki Odos highways. The movement on the capital’s roads has caused delays on other major routes as well. Drivers traveling on Kifisos should prepare for extended wait times due to a three-vehicle accident near Nea Chalkedon, which has paralyzed the left lane. Traffic problems extend from Metamorfosi to Aigaleo towards Piraeus and from Aigaleo to Nea Ionia in the opposite direction. Similarly, Kifisias Avenue faces significant delays in both directions, with similar conditions observed on Mesogeion Avenue, especially downhill near Holargos. Problems on Athinon Avenue start from Chaidari and continue throughout its length. Central Athens roads, Piraeus port, Alexandras Avenue, and Katechaki Street are gridlocked. Attiki Odos reports delays of up to 25 minutes, with varying congestion depending on the route.
