Without a second thought, the man who discovered the malfunctioning ATM in his town handed over the money to the bank and revealed that it amounted to thousands of euros. It was reported on Friday that an ATM on the central square of Tower had malfunctioned and was dispensing bundles of 50-euro notes. Speaking to patrisnews.gr, the man who found the money, Theodoros Panagiotakopoulos, a physiotherapist at the Nursing Unit of Tower, explained that as soon as he reached the ATM, he noticed that the machine had malfunctioned and there was a significant amount of money lying around. Immediately, he gathered the money and went inside the branch to inform the staff. “Many of these had come out in bundles, and some were scattered, which fortunately stopped the flow of the remaining cash. Without hesitation, I took it all and handed it over inside the bank while simultaneously alerting them about the machine’s issue,” he noted. As he said, “The money that came out of the machine amounts to thousands of euros.” Moreover, he mentioned that the bank employees hadn’t realized the machine had malfunctioned, and they thanked him before he left for work. According to the report, this man is the brother of the former manager of the same branch, who recently retired.
