He travels viewers across the western hemisphere to the first trailer for the NBC Universal and BBC wildlife series, “The Americas”. Oscar-winning actor, who was selected by the producers is a narrator in the ten episode series, in which cutting edge technology is used to plunge the public into ecosystems across North and South America. In executive production of Mike Ganton, with music by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer the series “The Americas” will debut with two consecutive episodes in February. Toby Gorman, president of Universal Television Alternative Studio had previously stated to THR that Tom Hanks’ choice as a narrator was easy. “We wondered what was the American version of BBC wildlife documentary legend David Attenborough? We agreed internally that there was a list of one: Tom Hanks. What we didn’t know was if he would agree to do it. But he liked it,” Gorman said.
