Three suspects arrested in connection with the fatal bombing attack on the home of Aphrodite Nestor — which resulted in the death of her daughter, Vagia Nestor — are expected to appear before the Thessaloniki prosecutor today. A small solidarity gathering has formed outside the Thessaloniki Courthouse, organized by members of the anti-authoritarian community following public calls. Heavy police presence, including units of the Mobile Anti-Riot Units (MAT), has been deployed near the courthouse ahead of the suspects’ arrival.
How Authorities Identified the Suspects
Greek counter-terrorism authorities identified the three suspects after analyzing surveillance footage, which helped trace the perpetrators’ escape route and revealed prior surveillance activity around Aphrodite Nestor’s residence. Forensic analysis also reportedly detected DNA evidence at the building’s entrance.
Arrests Across Greece
In Thessaloniki, a 29-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were arrested. The younger suspect allegedly provided his apartment as a hideout — located just 50 meters from the Nestor family’s home. A 26-year-old woman, charged as an accomplice, was arrested in Chania, where she had fled days after the attack.
Ongoing Investigations
Authorities continue searching for a fourth person believed to have taken part in the bombing. Separately, investigators are examining two other arson attacks — one targeting the home of former New Democracy MP Savvas Anastasiadis and another targeting the residence of ND official Zisis Ioakeimovits — concluding they were likely carried out by a different group.
A formal indictment has been filed against the three suspects, charging them with serious criminal offenses including use of explosives, arson, and destruction of private property.
