The trial of the 64-year-old Spanish man who attacked patrons at a tavern in Thessaloniki while in an uncontrollable rage was postponed until July 2. The man, referred to as the ‘Spanish Samurai,’ was referred to the Single-Member Felony Court of Thessaloniki on June 25, 2025, for the sword attack. However, due to the lack of an interpreter, the trial was delayed, and he was released. Outside the court, instead of addressing the shocking attack, the suspect spoke about global conflicts, the economy, and peace. A 45-year-old victim recounted how the Spanish man had been bothering patrons and attempted to grab a woman with a baby before attacking him with a sword. Bystanders managed to restrain him until police arrived. During a vehicle search, authorities found additional knives and swords. Witnesses described the scene, emphasizing the attacker’s erratic behavior and aggression towards innocent people.
