Thessaloniki: Spanish Man Attempted Attack with Sword – Katana and Spear Found in His Car

In an unbelievable incident, a 64-year-old Spanish man attempted to attack a 45-year-old individual with a ‘tando’ sword while they were at a tavern in Thessaloniki’s Ambelokipoi neighborhood. The event unfolded on Monday afternoon (23.06.2025) when the Spanish man began harassing patrons, prompting the 45-year-old to react. In response, the attacker tried to incapacitate him by drawing his sword. The perpetrator was promptly arrested by police officers. During a search of his vehicle, authorities discovered two additional katana swords, a replica pistol (firing plastic pellets), a wooden spear (yari bokken), and a pair of martial arts gloves. Charges have been filed against the Spanish man for attempted dangerous bodily harm and violation of weapons laws, with the case now being forwarded to the criminal prosecutor.
