June, known as ‘Pride Month,’ during which parades take place worldwide, is coming to an end, but the celebrations for LGBTQ+ rights continued. For the 13th year, Thessaloniki hosted its annual Pride parade. The event began at the White Tower Square, where thousands gathered on Saturday afternoon (21.06.2025) to march in honor of the LGBTQ+ community. The vibrant parade featured rainbow flags and smiles, drawing a diverse crowd from elderly participants to families with their children. All came together once again to send a loud message that everyone is equal and that the marginalization of minorities has no place in society. The colorful procession passed through various city landmarks before returning to the White Tower, followed by a grand concert. This marked the culmination of Pride Week activities, which included conferences, book presentations, and performances aimed at raising awareness and promoting acceptance within the LGBTQ+ community. Organizers emphasized resilience against intolerance and highlighted the fight for equality and inclusion. Politician Petros Pappas from PASOK attended, stating, “We are here today because human rights are non-negotiable.” Despite minor incidents involving verbal attacks on members of the parade, authorities intervened swiftly. Overall, the event celebrated human rights and sent a strong message about the importance of inclusivity.
