A state of emergency has been declared following a powerful explosion at an apartment building parking entrance, seriously injuring a woman. The explosion occurred just before 6:00 AM on Saturday (03.05.2025) in front of a closed parking area located at the intersection of Agiou Dimitriou and Platonos streets in Thessaloniki. The area has been cordoned off, and a severely injured woman, approximately 40 years old, was rushed to Hippokrateio Hospital, where initial reports indicate she sustained life-threatening injuries, particularly to her hand. The unfortunate woman was reportedly passing by when the explosion happened, causing her serious harm. So far, the cause of the explosion remains unknown. The blast was so intense that it not only damaged vehicles inside and outside the parking lot but also caused significant damage to the apartment building, including units on the third floor. Police and fire department teams have rushed to the scene.
