Thessaloniki: OASTH ready for snow with chains and salt

Weather forecasters predict a rapid change in weather in Northern Greece with OASTH taking measures to prevent snowfall. Ready to cope with the snowfall expected to take place in Thessaloniki from Sunday afternoon – and much more at Monday morning – so as not to interrupt the traffic of urban buses, OASTH, as mentioned in today’s announcement. CORVERSE Already, by order of the president and CEO of OASTH, Costas Tangiris, in the two carriages of the organization, in Stavroupolis and Phoenix, a sufficient quantity of salt was supplied, but also control over the non-slip chains, which may need to be placed on buses. “We have provided for salt and chains, so that in case of snowfalls in Thessaloniki, buses can reach the exit of the carriage spaces,” Mr.Tangiris notes and adds, that a plan has already been drawn up, so that, depending on the intensity of weather events, basic routes will be carried out and the service of the passengers will not be interrupted. The announcement emphasises that the president and CEO of OASTH has already contacted the mayors of Paul Mela and Kalamaria, Dimitris Aslanidis and Chrysa Arapoglou respectively, at the administrative limits of which the organization’s wagons are located and asked them to keep the roads open around them, so that buses can enter and exit and run routes. CORVERSE In addition, Mr.Tangiris requested the assistance of the relevant departments of the Region of Central Macedonia, with the Director General for Planning and Infrastructure, Babi Stergiadis, to assure him that the road network in the urban complex will remain open.
