“The murderous arson attacks targeting three fellow citizens due to their political beliefs tragically resulted in the loss of a human life,” said Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Angeloudis in a statement regarding the early-morning firebombings on July 1 against the homes of three New Democracy (ND) officials in Thessaloniki.
A Call for Accountability
“The only appropriate response from a law-abiding, democratic state facing such acts of violence is to swiftly identify and bring to justice both the direct perpetrators and those morally responsible,” emphasized Mayor Angeloudis.
Condemnation Without Reservations
He stressed that Thessaloniki — a city historically scarred by politically motivated murders and attacks — unequivocally condemns these criminal acts, “without reservations.”
The mayor also extended his condolences to the family of Vagia Nestor, mother of ND MP Aphrodite Nestor, who was severely injured in one of the attacks and later died.
